Meet Our Staff

We would like to introduce you to several members of the TPOG staff. If you have any questions, please let us know how we may serve you.

Pastor Don Thompson

I’ve had the privilege of serving the Lord in various capacities. I’ve ministered to congregations in Indiana, Wisconsin and Florida, as well as teaching at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School in Jackson, WI. I’ve served as a Circuit Pastor (a pastor to other pastors) and as a District Evangelism Chairman. I’ve served in home mission settings as well as doing prison ministry. I’ve coached grade school girls basketball as well as teaching at a Seminary in Nigeria. I pray that all these experiences will help me better serve the college students of today with the timeless truth and comfort of God’s holy Word.

That’s the challenge of today, whether in college or out of it – connecting people to Jesus through the Word of God. Nothing is as important as being connected to Christ and His forgiving love and His awesome power. My goal is to help students connect with Christ so that they can experience the reality of His love, as well as His power to change their lives and the lives of others in this world.

My wife, Maxine, and I have been married for over thirty-six years. We have four wonderful children, all of whom are married, and all of whom live in the greater Milwaukee area. They have blessed us with nine grandchildren. In addition we have mentored a young lady who is also part of our family along with her beautiful son. We never cease to be amazed at the blessings and joys that God gives us through our children and grandchildren.

If I can be of service to you, please email me at I look forward to seeing you in worship or at one of our Bible classes at Marquette, MSOE or UW-Milwaukee.

“The Gathering” and Partner Outreach Mike Westendorf

My name is Mike Westendorf and I have been the director of music for TPOG for the past 6 years, a position I have thoroughly enjoyed as we've walked with students and members. In the winter of 2013 we have moved to a different format for our campus ministry and my role has shifted from a worship and music ministry, to one that is focused on developing partnerships and relationships as we rethink what it means to be a Milwaukee Area Campus Ministry.

One of my key roles is the development of our monthly gathering place for college students of all campuses in the Milwaukee area called "The Gathering". It is a night to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a look at what our culture is saying and addressing some of that from a Christian worldview. So often, we think things are new and yet, at its core, things are basically the same with a different packaging, yet it's just new to us. We hope to grow The Gathering as a great way to just share Jesus in the language of our culture.

In addition to The Gathering, I am helping TPOG develop college leaders to serve as part of a collegiate council that will hopefully grow into the action body for Milwaukee Area Campus Ministry. This is an exciting time for college aged people who want to serve their local universities well for Jesus sake. It's a great time to come in on the ground level and leave a legacy of Faithfulness that generations can follow.

Lastly, I reach out to churches and schools/high schools as part of my touring ministry as a Christian recording artist. You can see more of that part of my life at

In the end, God has given each of us a story to tell of his faithfulness. The psalmist says "I will sing of the Lord's great love forever, with my mouth, I will make your faithfulness known through all generations". This is the heartbeat of Campus ministry - Make God's faithfulness known on our campus and through all generations. Young or old, we hope you will find a place to make Campus Ministry a part of your journey with Jesus.

Secretary Paula Herbst

Hi! I’m Paula. 14 years ago God led me to become the secretary at the Milwaukee Campus Ministry. Through this ministry I have witnessed God’s awesome power. He never ceases to amaze me!

I am married to Terry, who is a retired school teacher. God has blessed us with 3 daughters- Jessy who is married to Roger, Mary who is married to Bryce, and Ruth who is married to Mike. God has also given us 4 precious grandchildren, Tyler, Jonathon, Charley and Bennett. I never dreamed that being a grandparent would be so wonderful, but it truly is! We try to spend as much time with our grandchildren as we can!

Then there are my “adopted children”, the students who come to The Point of Grace. As we talk about their challenges on campus, their studies, and sometimes their relationships, we soon become family. God has truly blessed me through the relationships I have formed over the years with the students who come for a while and then go off into the world to begin their adult lives. They all have a special place in my heart. So why not stop in at The Point and join the family? We’d love to have you!
